Trouble Shoot Engine

Sometimes, during installation a mistake is made and the database engine does not start automatically when the computer starts. If this happens, you will not be able to open any data and that includes test data as well. Instead you will read some error message, every time you want to display data from the database.

Note that this procedure is a little bit deep, but it is not too hard. Under normal circumstances you should not need to go through this procedure, but it is handy to know this.

This is only one of the reasons why you may have issues. And this is documented here. We have documented it, as if it was Windows Vista or Windows 7. In case you are using an older Windows Operating System such as for example XP or Windows 2000, Click:

Otherwise see the procedure below.

Click Start at the bottom left (the little round circle icon) .

In the Text Window below type "Services" and you will see Services to appear.

Click on Services

Look for the line where it says "SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS), left click on it once and then right click with your mouse.

If the prompt Start line is enabled on the prompt, click it. Otherwise click Restart

Then click Properties

And make sure that the Start up type is set to "Automatic".

Also make sure that you are in mixed mode.

When you have done all that, you must stop and start the SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS)!

1) Select the row SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS)

2) Right Click

3) Click "Restart"

Note: Sometimes if you want to delete a database file, the system dows not allow you. Make sure that the Taxi Fleet Manager is closed, then you can follow the procedure similar as shown above. You stop the Services, then you delete the file (or copy or what else you want to do) and then you start this service. You must start this Service otherwise the Taxi Fleet Manager won't work.
